Our summer camps produced through our youth division, The Children's Theatre Workshop are open to all children who are motivated to learn, grow, and explore the world through creativity,theatre, leadership and the arts. We’re looking for students who have enthusiasm, open mindedness and a desire to explore their creativity. The first pre-requisite isn’t just talent, but the courage to share your self with the world. TCTW offers two summer camp programs. Our flagship 5 week program held in the Department of Theatre Arts at Howard University serves ages 7-16, while our Little Thespians Summer Camp held at our Takoma Park location serves ages 5-6.

Summer Camp at Howard University
At our flagship camp at Howard Univeristy, throughout the 5 week summer session campers receive introductory training in a variety of theatre disciplines. At the end of the session the campers participate in a Broadway style final production. Summer Camp 2012 pre-registration opens in February. Campers are divided into 5 groups by age range. Each day they receive instruction via 5 pre-set classes.

Through the theatre classes and camp experience the students learn and strengthen:

Character Development - strengthening self esteem, confidence, public speaking, courage, leadership skills and how to become a team player.

Acting – students learn through imaginative play, group acting games, introduction to simple props and costumes. There is special emphasis on building self confidence while learning the skills of live performance.

Musical theatre/singing – the students participate in primarily chorus style singing while exploring their individual voice range and exploration of different musical genres and formal and informal presentations of music.

Dance – awakening the young body’s potential for graceful and controlled movement as well as structured improvisation, students learn self-expression and body awareness through simple dance combinations and warm ups using music and stories.

Howard U. Summer Camp Ages 7-16

Location - Through a partnership with the Howard University Department of Theatre Arts, our flagship camp is housed in the theatre wing of the Division of Fine Arts building located at 2455 6th street NW.

Dates (2012) - June 18th - July 20th (5 weeks)

Camp Hours - 9am to 4pm (before/aftercare is available)

Tuition - $725 (payment deadline 6/8. $100 late payment after 6/8)

EARLY Bird Discount - $675 if you pay in full by 5/1 (HU employees have until 5/30 for early bird discount)

Extended Care - 8:10am - 8:50am & 4:10pm - 5:00pm ($200 for single service, or $300 for both services for 5 weeks - this must be paid in advance by 6/8. Any payments after 6/8 services are $100 per week for single service and $125 per week for both services.)
Sibling Discount - $100 discount total for both (applies only to Howard Camp)

Permission:	By signing below, I give permission for my child to participate in The Children’s Theatre Workshop summer camp through The Perfrorming Arts Training Studio. In case of an emergency I authorize personnel of PATStudio/TCTW to care for my child, I give permission for emergency medical care to be administered, giving the assigned personnel permission to use their judgment in obtaining medical services. I agree to waive all rights to hold PATStudio/TCTW, including staff, volunteers, and representatives thereof, liable for any accident or injury sustained by myself or my child, or damage to any personal property possessed by either, while participating in all activities or related programming. I also allow PATStudio/TCTW personnel, volunteers, and associated organizations to take both still and motion pictures of my child, and understand that these images will be used for display and publicity through The Performing Arts Training Studio website, internet marketing, and other forms of media that use still photography, as well as DVD presentations.
